St. Leo Catholic School proudly serves students from preschool through eighth grade as a member of the Elk County Catholic School System. Located in Ridgway, Pennsylvania, St. Leo Catholic School provides a faith-filled learning environment where students are known, supported, and encouraged to grow academically, spiritually, and personally.

Through a classical Catholic curriculum, students explore truth, beauty, and goodness while developing strong foundations in reading, writing, mathematics, history, science, and the Catholic faith. Our approach encourages curiosity, thoughtful discussion, strong communication skills, and a lifelong love of learning.

At St. Leo Catholic School, faith is woven into each day through prayer, religious instruction, weekly Mass, service, and opportunities to grow closer to Christ. Our small, family-centered community allows teachers to recognize each student’s unique gifts and help every child become a confident learner, compassionate leader, and faithful disciple.

Assessment & Student Growth

Student progress is measured through classroom assessments, teacher observations, and standardized testing. These assessments help guide instruction and ensure students continue to grow academically.

What is a Catholic Classical Education?

A classical curriculum is a time-tested approach to education that focuses on developing the whole child—intellectually, morally, and spiritually. Rather than simply teaching students facts to memorize, it teaches them how to think, reason, communicate, and seek truth.

In a Catholic classical school, this approach is rooted in the Catholic faith and emphasizes the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
