Technology
Technology is thoughtfully integrated into the learning experience at SMCES to enhance instruction, build essential digital skills, and support student success. Students in grades 4–5 are each equipped with a Chromebook, while students in grades 1–3 have access to 1:1 iPads. Kindergarten and preschool classrooms also have access to shared technology carts, allowing even our youngest learners to benefit from age-appropriate digital learning experiences.
Students are taught how to use technology safely, responsibly, and respectfully. Teachers help students develop strong digital citizenship skills, including caring for devices, making safe choices online, protecting personal information, and using technology as a positive tool for learning and communication.
Technology is also used to strengthen core academic skills. Through carefully selected educational programs and digital resources, students receive additional practice and individualized learning opportunities in areas such as reading and mathematics. These tools allow teachers to reinforce classroom instruction, target specific skills, monitor student progress, and provide meaningful practice that meets students at their individual level.
