Colorful Chemistry

Recently Chemistry 1 students in Ms. Harrier’s class at Elk County Catholic High School completed a Flame Test Lab.  Students burned different kinds of metals to see what colors they would give off.  The students enjoyed seeing that copper burns blue, strontium burns red, and potassium burns purple.  This property of metals can be seen every Fourth of July with the fireworks.
