ECC Students Named to National Business Honor Society
Two members of the ECC Class of 2020, Maddison Taylor and Bailey Bauer, have been named to the National Business Honor Society. Both girls are members of Future Business Leaders of America, Chapter 17625, hosted by Elk County Catholic High School, which gave them the opportunity to qualify for membership. According to the Pennsylvania FBLA website (pafbla.org), “The National Business Honor Society–Pennsylvania FBLA Chapter is designed to recognize those members of FBLA who truly excel in academic preparation and an eventual career in the business world. Pennsylvania FBLA recognizes that in order to succeed as a true business leader, our members need to be well prepared in terms of their academics, career skills, and leadership development.”
Maddison Taylor has been a member of FBLA for four years and currently serves as the President of the ECC Chapter. She qualified for the State Leadership Conference her sophomore, junior, and senior years. During her junior year, she served as Chapter Vice President and Regional Treasurer, and was a State Officer Candidate. In addition, Maddison also placed within the top 10 in the state for her competitive event both her sophomore and junior years. After high school Maddison will attend Penn State University Park and major in
Business Management with the hopes of receiving her Masters of Business Administration following her degree.

About her experience in the organization, Maddison says, “FBLA has been the most influential aspect of my high school career. It has provided me with the tools I need to be successful and really opened my eyes to the complex world of business. This organization has introduced me to so many people around the world that I am happy to call my lifelong friends. Without FBLA, I would not have been able to break out of my shell and become the person I am today.”
Bailey Bauer has been a member of FBLA for three years and currently serves as the Vice-President of the ECC Chapter. In the past, she also served as Treasurer. In addition to being inducted to the National Business Honor Society, Bailey was also awarded 2nd place at the regional conference in the Introduction to Business Communications event in 2017, and 3rd place at the regional conference in 2018 in the Business Communications event. She competed at the State Leadership Conference in both her sophomore and junior years, and placed 7th in the American Enterprise Project event last year. She was also awarded the “Future” level of the Business Achievement Award. After high school, she will be attending Penn State University at University Park where she plans to major in Business Management.
In reflecting on her membership in FBLA, Bailey says, “The opportunities that FBLA offers are endless! Being in the organization taught me so much, from networking opportunities such as conferences and workshops, to competitive events and fundraisers. It was a big part of my high school career and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this organization.”
Maddison and Bailey, along with team member Emily Wolfe, will be competing in the Digital Video Production event at the virtual State Leadership Conference this year.
