Recently, as an introduction to a biography unit, Mrs. Bauer’s third grade class read the biography of Theodore Seuss Geisel, pen name Dr. Seuss. The students enjoyed learning about his life. Most especially when he was challenged to write a book that first graders couldn’t put down. This challenge was a result of an article that children didn’t want to read because school primers were boring.  He could only use 225 words out of a list of 348. Dr. Seuss used 236 words and published The Cat in the Hat. The students had a weeks full of fun activities and are shown with their final project.
