Throughout the first week of May, Elk County Catholic School System celebrated several May Crowning ceremonies on their various campuses.
The ECCSS St. Marys schools celebrated their ceremony as well as a Living Rosary in the ECCHS main gymnasium. Representatives from each grade took turns leading the congregation in prayer and a decade of the rosary was also recited in Spanish and another in Latin. The May Queens from each school also jointly crowned the Blessed Mother with a crown of flowers. Representing their schools as May Queens were Audree Meyer (5th grade – St. Marys Catholic Elementary School), Tessa Fledderman (8th grade – St. Marys Catholic Middle School), and Maggie Challingsworth (12th grade – Elk County Catholic High School).
St. Leo School and St. Boniface School also held their ceremonies recently, which were celebrated by Fr. Justin Pino and Fr. Ross Miceli, respectively.
At St. Leo, each grade level, kindergarten through seventh, chose two student representatives to participate in the ceremony. After Communion, the representatives led the congregation outside to the church’s Mary statue. Eighth-grader MacKenzie Kennedy had the honor of crowning Mary.
At St. Boniface, the May Queen was Samantha Kahnell. The Crown Bearer was Owen Gnan, and the fourth and fifth grade girls made up the May Crowning court.
Three very special ceremonies, three beautiful tributes to our Blessed Mother!
