On Thursday, November 8, Elk County Catholic High School students Cecilia Mao and Isaac Gradl competed in the 34th Annual Benjamin Freed High School Mathematics Competition sponsored by Clarion University.
As part of the competition, each student was required to complete a two-hour 45-question multiple choice test covering a wide array of mathematics topics and concepts. Sixteen A schools and 10 AA/AAA schools competed.
While ECC could not compete for the team title, both Cecilia and Isaac performed quite well. Furthermore, Cecilia placed first in the individual competition by earning the highest score in the A division, which was comprised of well over 100 other students.
Pictured are Cecilia and Isaac proudly displaying Cecilia’s plaque that she was awarded for her accomplishment. Congratulations!
