As many current and former residents of St. Marys are aware, St. Joseph Monastery closed its doors in 2015. Now, a group of dedicated and concerned citizens has gathered to work with St. Marys native John Troha who has made the only offer to purchase the building and land entirely.
The intent of this initiative is to raise awareness about the possible demolition of the Monastery and also to communicate the proposed “adaptive reuses” for the facility. Preserving the historical structures and significance of the first women’s Benedictine Monastery in the United States is also of great importance.
Please visit the survey found here, which is being circulated to a number of interested groups. It should take no more than 15-20 minutes to complete.
The survey can be completed anonymously, but if you would like to leave your contact information to become involved with the formation of several committees, assist with further communications, media relations and inquiries or other volunteer opportunities, you may do so.
Thank you for taking the time to familiarize yourself with this opportunity and providing your honest feedback. The survey will be closed to entries on October 31st, and the results will be published in early December.
