On Wednesday, March 7, the ECCHS FBLA Club visited Kreckel Enterprises, a powdered metal secondary machine shop in St. Marys. The group toured the shop, owned by Vern Kreckel III, and learned about the different product parts the company helps supply to its customers. These parts are made for products such as exercise equipment, hospital beds, coffins, drills, sanders, and more. The students even got to drill a part during their visit.

Mr. Kreckel stressed to the students that this is only one way of making a living here in Elk County and that our area has many career opportunities.

In addition, senior Kendra Smithbauer, the 2018 Kreckel Enterprises “Student of the Year”, was surprised with her picture on the company’s Wall of Fame. Kendra was also offered a job shadowing opportunity for this summer.

The tour concluded with a stop at Mr. Kreckel’s garage full of classic and antique cars.

Thank you to all at Kreckel Enterprises for allowing our students this firsthand look into the “real world”!
