This past spring, Dr. Dan Meier ’65 met with the six seniors who applied for the scholarship he established at Elk County Catholic High School in support of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) studies – the Daniel L. and Ellen P. Meier Scholarship.
During his visit, Dr. Meier inquired about each student’s future plans and after learning more, he joked that the seven of them could start their own company. He then gifted each senior with the 32nd Edition of the CRC Standard Mathematical Tables and Formulae. This reference book provides essential formulas, tables, figures, and descriptions, including many diagrams, group tables, and integrals not available online. It is a comprehensive handbook that remains an invaluable reference for professionals and students in mathematical and scientific fields. Dr. Meier’s 14th Edition has served him well over his career as a student and professional, and it is his hope that it will encourage and aid in the future successes of these students who will soon begin their studies in the fields of STEM.
