ECCSS PTO BOARD MEETING

April 17, 2012 at 6:45 p.m.

Held at the Queen of the World Rectory

 

Present:  Mary Agnes Marshall, Lou Radkowski, Mary Beth Schaut, Jeanne Dippold, Mary DaCanal, Amy Jacob, Holly Eckert, Tricia Bauer, Mary Lynn Carnovale, Fr. Michael, John Schneider, JC Fritz, Ann Caskey

6:51 p.m. - Lou Radkowski opened the meeting with a prayer

 

The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved by Mary DaCanal and seconded by Jeanne Dippold.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

Principals/Presidents Report:

Mary Beth Schaut (Elementary)

á          Tessa Fledderman was the state winner for the Handwriting Contest

á          Pizza party on April 30 for those winners of the Gardner Candy

á          Field trips are planned for the year

á          May 7 to see play with St. Boniface

á          Few more tours of the school have been given to prospective families

 

John Schneider (Middle)

á          Considering having Student Council elections the first week or two of the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year  to incorporate all the schools

 

Fundraisers:

Bingo

á          Lou has talked with the other committees to see what they can do

á          Athletic bingo has increased

á          Committees are open to sharing ideas                

 

Clothing update

á          Coordinating with Mary Meyer to do different sales for next year

 

Hoagie Sale

á          Sale is usually done for trout season

á          If we do the sale, hoagies would be delivered May 14 or 21

á          CanÕt hold a fundraising event a few weeks before Race for Education

á          Will cancel the sale and let parents know

á          Majority voted to cancel sale

 

Race for Education

á          6,000 letters are being sent out

á          Letters will all be mailed out on Friday, April 20

á          K-8 earned outside lunch

á          3 of 5 preschool classes earned outside snack

á          High school did not earn reward

á          May 25 early dismissal; 8th grade on field trip that day if goal reached

á          Amy Cherry contacted for the Daily Press

 

Heritage Gala

á          Was held on Friday, March 30 at the Red Fern

á          Hosted by the ECCSS Advancement Office in partnership with OÕLeary Giovanini Wealth Management Group and the Red Fern

á          It was very successful

á          200 people were in attendance

á          Heritage Award was presented to the Living and Deceased Benedictine Sisters of St. Joseph Monastery

á          21 hallmark teachers recognized for their years of service in our schools and the Erie Diocese

á          Student talents were recognized

á          Jazz band showcased their talents during the social hour

 

Committees:

Finance

á          $56,402.73 ending cash balance

á          Paid $65,000.00 of our $115,000.00 commitment to date

 

Volunteer committee

á          Will be working on getting volunteers to help with the State of School social

 

Parent teacher student

á          Middle school spring party

á          Looking into what we could do

á          Kim is to give us information on what she did last year

 

8th grade graduation

á          Jeanne Dippold ordering the shirts once the kids decide the color

á          Looking at decorations; they have to see if we can use them instead of buying more

á          Will not get as many drinks, pizza, chips because they donÕt eat a lot

á          Looking for volunteers and chaperones

á          Music is by Marty Kim

 

Teacher appreciation

á          In May we will have a catered lunch for the teachers

á          Will coordinate with the other principals to find a day that works best for them

á          Tricia Bauer will talk with Joe Manno regarding catering

 

Board intentions for next year:

á          Laura Gerber, Cindy LaBant and Mark Hoffman have resigned

á          Amy Jacob will not be treasurer due to not having children in the school system

á          A note is to be placed in folders to ask if anyone would like to be on the board and if so to contact JC Fritz

á          Steve Atkeson would like to be on the board – should we name him before it is approved?

á          Reach out to the new students families to see if they would like to be involved

á          Those on the board are to let JC Fritz know if they would like to remain

 

State of School social:

á          To be held on May 20, 2012 from  6-8 p.m.

á          Mary Meyer, principals, and Fr. Michael to get agenda

á          We will serve individual cups of ice cream at the social

á          Marketing people to have food there to showcase what they sell

á          5th grade parents to help with social due to no hoagie sale

á          Lou Radkowski and Holly Eckert will try to get volunteers to help with the social

 

New Business:

á          Family Picnic and Bonfire

á          Food for the bonfire will be done by Wes and Shelly Meyer

á          Discussion for 2012-2013 Parent Info Night; held on two different nights instead of two times in one night

 

 

Meeting was closed at 8:00 p.m. by Fr. Michael
