6th Graders help Santa budget for Christmas gifts!

Santas Budget.SMCMS.LazoreIn order to help her 6th graders learn the importance of a budget, Miss Lazore assigned her Math Applications students the task of creating a budget for Santa. She gave the students a set amount of money to spend on gifts for their family members, and they then researched the Internet’s best deals to do some comparison-shopping. The students had to spend all of their money, including sales tax, and were not allowed to go over their budgets. Once they found all the gifts they could afford, they created charts with the prices, sales tax, and totals. The students had a great time cyber-shopping for family gifts while also learning an important life lesson!
